CUC open in Cowra Region
12 Apr 2023
University students in Cowra and the surrounding areas are now able to complete much of their studies locally, thanks to the newly established Country Universities Centre in Cowra. The Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, announced recently that the NSW Government has provided funding of $1.27 million for the new centre.
The centre, located in the former Waugoola Motors building at 175 Kendal Street, opened in April 2023 and is equipped with modern technology, high-speed internet, study spaces, and video conferencing facilities.
Ms Cooke emphasised that the Centre aims to provide a safe and flexible learning environment for students, allowing them to engage in and successfully complete their studies without the need to move away from home.
The CUC Cowra region Centre Manager, Stephen Kilner, expressed that the Cowra community will greatly benefit from having a local CUC Centre, as it will provide study spaces, technology, a student community, and human support to help local students thrive in their studies.
Linda Barron, Cowra Council’s Community Development Officer, believes that the establishment of a Country Universities Centre in Cowra will meet the strong demand for improved tertiary education supports in the local area. This development is expected to enrich opportunities for students in the Central West region of New South Wales.
